Ocimum basilicum from which Basil Absolute Oil is extracted, is annual Herb and grows 20-50 cm (8-20 in); when in bloom the purple- white flowers appear in clusters, framed by oval pointed green leaves. Basil Absolute oil is extracted from the flowering sweet Basil. It is grown commercially throughout Europe, the Mediterranean, Pacific Islands and in America.

Reported Attributes of Basil Absolute Oil:-

There is, of course, an essential oil of Basil obtained by steam distillation of the herbal matter which has many uses however the absolute oil, this oil, is mainly used in high end masculine perfumery.

Basil Absolute Oil is prized in Ayurvedic medicine for its ability to strengthen compassion, faith and bring clarity. Basil oil clears the sinuses, promotes digestion and stimulates circulation, especially in the respiratory system. It is effective for relieving mental and physical fatigue. It also aids in alertness and concentration.

Basil Absolute oil has a very high proportion of camphor and a warm, aromatic, sweet- spicy smell. It is a refreshing, light and uplifting tonic. Use sparingly fror massage, baths, and  inhalation. A few drops of Basil oil on a tissue clears the head. Diluted with a base oil, it can be rubbed in to relieve insect bites or aches and pains. The smell of sweet Basil in the bath will lift your spirits.
