BOTANICAL NAME: Picea engelmanii

SCENT:Engelmann Spruce essential oil is rarer than the black or white spruce. It is sweeter, and softer than most evergreen oils with a balsamic, resinous odour with green woody and slightly fruity notes. Overall, the scent is very clean, fresh and pleasant.

Engelmann Spruce is also known as White Spruce, Mountain Spruce, or Silver Spruce, and is a high altitude native Spruce to the North West America coastal mountainous regions and most of mountainous Canada.It hybridizes very easily with its cousin, the True White Spruce

There are two long isolated mountainous populations of this Spruce in remote parts of Mexico which are protected and are now considered as sub species given their protracted isolation. They are known as Mexican Spruce.
