Probably best known as an oil that has a strong sinus-irritating aroma, like that of horseradish and a hot nutty taste, which is often used for cooking in Northern India, Eastern India, Nepal and Bangladesh.

However it is also used for a warming tonic massage carrier oil for the very same reason of its highly aromatic and warming properties and as a consequence it is often used in warm up massage before exercise in sports derived muscular strain. It is high in Omega 3 and oleic acid and can be made from all three strains of mustard – Brassicas Alba (this product) nigra and juncea
